Shirley Marie Droivold

June 19, 1933 - March 29, 2016

Shirley Marie Droivold, age 82 of Spring Grove, passed away Tues., March 29, 2016 at Gundersen Tweeten Healthcare in Spring Grove, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1933 in rural Spring Grove to Edwin and Selma (Larson) Iverson. She was a Spring Grove High School graduate. On Nov. 5, 1955 Shirley married Dale Droivold at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer. They were married for fifty-six years, until Dale preceded Shirley in death on December 22, 2011. She worked at Helleland and Ulven Drug, Mansfield Industries, the Bake Shop, and Northern Engraving in Spring Grove. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she often helped with Bingo. She had also worked as a waitress at the Ivy Grove Café in Spring Grove. She and her husband Dale owned and operated Big Viking Shoe Repair and the Spring Grove Laundromat. She was a member of Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church and its women’s groups. Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, reading, and following Minnesota Twins baseball. Shirley is survived by her children Debbie (Greg) Smith of Rushford, MN, and David (Barb) Droivold of Spring Grove. Her grandchildren Mandi (Chris) Krips of Spring Grove and Melissa (Michael) Skoff of Rushford, and her great –granddaughter Brenna Krips. Her brother Eldon (Hazel) Iverson of Hokah, MN and her very special sister-in-law Ellen Rilling of Hesper, IA, special cousins and friends Owen and Mildred Myhre of Spring Grove, and several nieces and nephews.
