Florence V. Thorson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Florence V. Thorson, age 91 of Spring Grove passed away Jan. 6th at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove. She was born on March 24, 1928 in Decorah, IA to Jeremiah and Alma (Quandahl) Osmundson She was a 1946 Decorah High School graduate. On July 16, 1947 she married Herbert Thorson at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, IA Florence answered phones for her husband Herbert’s trucking business. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, taking care of their bird feeders and learning the names of the birds that came to visit them, she also enjoyed gardening and especially loved growing Geraniums and Irises, and also growing a spice bush. Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, and the Spring Grove American Legion Auxiliary Survivors include her children Alan (Janell) Thorson of Kellogg, MN, Steve (Karry) Thorson of Spring Grove, and Heidi (Bob) Hamlin of Spring Valley, MN Her brothers Richard (LeaEtta) Osmundson of Eagen, MN and Jerold (Joan) Osmundson of Washburn, IA Nine grandchildren Jessica Heeter, Benjamin (Laura) Thorson, Quentin Thorson, Dr. Stephanie (Niels) Thorson-Olesen, Kjersti (Adam) Manty, Brandon Hamlin, Grayce Hamlin, Aaron (Shannon) Shaw, and Heidi (Brent) Tweten, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert and four sisters. Private family funeral services will be held on Sun. at 2:00 P.M. at Roble Funeral Chapel. In Spring Grove. Pastor Lane Zaffke will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery There will be a public visitation on Sun. from 1-2 P.M. at Roble Funeral Home.
