Cecelia Maxine Vesterse

Cecelia Maxine Vesterse, age 90 of Mabel and formerly of Spring Grove, passed away Feb. 5th at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Mn. She was born May 31, 1929 in Black Hammer Twp., rural Spring Grove to Andrew and Cora (Stengard) Halverson. She attended rural school at Hillside School, in Black Hammer Twp. On Oct. 12, 1950 she married Obert Roble; The couple farmed in Wilmington twp., they had two children, Paul and Dale. Obert passed away in 1961. Cecelia moved to Spring Grove following Obert’s death. She later married Le Roy Johnson on June 22, 1963, the couple adopted their daughter Nancy. Le Roy preceded Cecelia in death on Dec. 28, 1973. Much later Cecelia married Carlton Vesterse on Sept. 26, 1987, the couple later divorced. She moved to Green Lea Manor in Nov of 2012. Cecelia worked for Mansfield-Argus in Spring Grove, and later worked for Tweeten Lutheran Healthcare for eighteen years and then cleaned for Elmer’s Supper Club in Caledonia for 5 years before retiring. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and its women’s groups, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary: She enjoyed delivering meals on wheels. Cecelia was a social butterfly who enjoyed gardening, she also enjoyed cleaning her house and doing windows. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Maurice) Dahl, Jr. of Decorah, IA Her grandchildren Christopher (Pamela) Roble and Heather (Nathan) Johnson of Albertville, Mn, Todd Hilberg of Decorah, Ia, Justin Duvel of Waukon, Ia, Joseph Dahl, Jessica Dahl of Harmony, MN and Ashley Dahl of Decorah, Ia Her great-grandchildren Regan (Gonzalo) Carranza of Wichita, KS, Sophia and Judah Roble and Forde Johnson of Albertville, MN, and Parker, Makenzie, Allie and Trinity Dahl of Harmony, Mn She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Cora Halverson, her husbands Obert and LeRoy, sons Paul and Dale, her brothers LaWayne, Orvin, Herman, Reuben, Ronald and Allan, and sisters Caroline, Arona, and Norma, and by her special cat Susie. Funeral services will be held on Sat. at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Elizabeth Hermeier will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Friends may call Sat. from 11:00 A.M. to time of service at the church.
