Avis Lorraine Glasrud

Avis Lorraine Glasrud, 94, passed to our Heavenly Father on July 22, 2014 at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse, WI. There, she joined her husband Paul, sisters Doris, Irene, Bernice and Leona; brothers Tilferd, Gilman, and Alvin; grandson-in-law Lew; and her Mother and Father Ingeman and Henrietta. Avis was born to Bernt Ingeman and Henrietta Josephine (Bersie) Ingvalson on October 11, 1919. She met a handsome boy, Paul Glasrud, when she was a teen. They were united in marriage on September 18, 1940. Her loving husband, Paul, passed away just one year short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Avis and Paul built a family that they adored more than life – daughter Janet and son Gary, seven granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. Avis and Paul lived their life and raised their family in a strong Lutheran faith. They worked their whole life to provide for their family and instilled in them to only spend what you had in your pocket. Avis was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church and treasured her time with the ladies at church. Avis worked very hard at many jobs in her life, but it was her last job, being the school dishwasher, which was her granddaughters’ favorite; they looked forward to seeing her sweet smile, personal ‘wave’ to them, or short chat with them every day in school. Avis lived life for her family and felt blessed every day for each of them. Survivors include daughter Janet (Wayne) Wold; son Gary (Donna) Glasrud; seven granddaughters Melissa (Brad Hernandez) Wold, Sarah (Eric Lee) Glasrud, Lara (Abe) Mendez, Nikki (Tom) Pickett, Keely (Mark) Mandel, Suzanne (Eric) Burkness and Cassie (Chris) Kosiba; eight great-grandchildren Matthew and Olivia Mendez, Grace Mandel, Kade, Carson, and Carly Pickett, Lily Burkness and Jacob Hernandez; two step great-grandchildren Mitchell and Michaela Mandel; brothers-in-law Don Pothast and Raymond Glasrud; sisters-in-law Ardys Glasrud , Darlene Glasrud, and Bernice Glasrud; nieces Lynn Ellefsen, Pam Dundee, Lori Tallman-Knutson, Diane Sherburne, Harriet Holland, Sharon Liudahl, Sandra Chaput, Holly Thorson, Judy Lynn, Karen Wolf, Barbara White and Jennifer Hostutler; nephews Dean Ingvalson, Terry Ingvalson, Donald Larson, David Glasrud, Steve Glasrud, Bruce Glasrud, Dennis Glasrud and Jeffrey Glasrud; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to the above family Avis is meeting in Heaven, she will also gather with the rest of her family that preceded her in death who are sisters-in-law Pearl Ingvalson, Mavis Ingvalson and Margaret Glasrud; brothers-in-law Orville Kittelson, Roy Tyribakken, Harold Gjere, Herbert Larson, William Glasrud, Leslie Glasrud and Peter Glasrud; nieces Camilla Crawford and Doreen Nolting; and nephews Harris Glasrud, Robert Glasrud and Larry Glasrud.
